The Grove Artisan Café and Bakery

Featured in PHOENIX Magazine

THE INTERIOR OF THE GROVE – the new High Street coffeehouse, not the famed Los Angeles shopping mall – mirrors its pleasantly deceptive surroundings. Nestled in Phoenix’s High Street, a modern business district that resembles the quaint main street of a mid-century town, the cozy café’s lived-in design and inviting atmosphere suggest that it’s been part of the neighborhood for years – despite only opening in August.

This is all by design, of course. Envisioned by Dwell Designs Co. owner and principal designer Jessica Wiebe, it’s “the kind of place that reminds you of your grandmother’s house – comforting, warm and deeply familiar… merging high-end elements with the soul of a truly welcoming home,”she says.

Wiebe, who splits her time between Phoenix and Canada, employed an eclectic mix of sizes, colors, patterns, textures and design philosophies to evoke a coastal-cottage-meets-Versace-Mansion vibe. “Our hope is that everyone who walks through our doors is reminded of what it means to feel at home, even when you’re not,” she says.

IRON SCONCES

Wiebe describes ambient lighting as “a masterful tool for cultivating serenity,” exemplified by these three-armed Wayfair sconces that cast a soft, warm glow throughout the space.

REFURBISHED CHAIRS

Each of The Grove’s antique chairs was lovingly restored and reupholstered with F. Schumacher & Co.’s iconic Citrus Garden fabric – a vibrant nod to the café’s arboreal namesake.

FRESH FLOWERS

A pedestal table serves as “a deliberate anchor that grounds the space,” its surface showcasing lavish floral arrangements refreshed weekly by Scottsdale floral studio Imagine Flowers.

CUSTOM BOOTHS

Lounge-style booths lined with bespoke animal print add “a vibrant burst of color and texture” while maximizing space “without compromising comfort or beauty.”

BISTRO TABLES

“The tables at The Grove were envisioned to elevate the space, transforming it from a simple café into an ambiance reminiscent of a refined, high-end restaurant.”

Jessica Wiebe offers clients a place for time to stand still

Your home (and my home) should truly be a place where time stands still, says Jessica Wiebe, founder of Dwell Designs Co. Her goal is to offer a solution to an aesthetically tranquil and organized space. She will create functionality, comfort, and style to inspire the sense of feeling at home.

From a young age, she loved decorating. "I feel like design and creating beautiful spaces has always been a part of who I am. I knew that what I surrounded myself with would have an impact on me, so I was constantly looking for ways to improve my surroundings." Jessica founded Dwell Designs Co., an interior design and organized space company, to offer modern design solutions for the North Scottsdale and Paradise Valley area. Services include home staging, lighting design, remodeling and restoration, green/sustainable living spaces, material and hardware selection, furniture selection and placement, and more. Believing in close connection between client and designer, she works closely to understand a clients objectives, vision, and to maximize space.

"The four walls of our homes are not just about providing our basic needs for everyday survival, but for creating an atmosphere where memories can be built and love can be fostered. Jessica explains. After losing her mother at a young age, she has since learned how precious family is and now important it is to create a nome that each family member can find comfort in, as well as a place to be celebrated. Now, she defines success as enjoying a cup of hot coffee at the end of a long day, the company of her children, and long walks with her husband each evening. Aside from creating beautiful spaces, Jessica is equally passionate about organizing and decluttering. "I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to thinking of new and creative ways to style my pantry or give my closet a face lift." Jessica predicts that a huge trend for 2020 will be minimizing the amount of harmful products brought into our homes.

"Healthy, detoxified living is definitely going to be something that is on trend. have seen a rise in individuals' awareness of their health and now the objects we put in our homes can have either a positive or negative effect on our health." She goes on to explain that bringing in natural elements will give off positive changes to our environment. such elements include certain air purifying indoor plants to help pull toxins out of the air and improve air quality, soy and beeswax based candles, and detoxifying our homes with naturally derived essential oils. "I like to use natural fibers in my home with such things as linen, cotton, and flax bedding and throw pillows. Introducing wood, stone, and metals into living spaces helps bring more of the outdoors inside," Jessica says.
